1974 Porsche 911 restoration process

Hello everyone!  Our blog is going to change pace for a bit and focus more on showing you what we do to maintain and restore pieces of our much loved classic 911's.  The first candidate that we have is a 1974 911 Carrera.

We were chasing an infamous gas smell and so we decided to go ahead and service all the fuel lines.

The first lines were the breather lines coming from the gas tank and filler neck, these are all clear fuel lines and are joined here as you can see by a "T" fitting.  Also we replaced gas expansion lines in the front inner fender and while we were at it we cleaned up the washer fluid tank, lines, and gas expansion tank.

Next we decided to replace the brake master cylinder.  I ended up finding that it is much easier to remove the lines coming from the brake reservoir and insert them while you have the master cylinder out of the car.

After that we tackled the intake manifold rubber gaskets that were starting to crack which can cause vacuum leaks.  We will also be replacing the intake manifold gaskets while we are here.

 New gaskets!
